WTF IS THIS?
QWERTY Heroes, being a totally original game with no canon material to reference, is sure to inspire a bunch of questions. And that's okay! That's what Amanderp and Caitllama are here for! So in this thread, we'll be compiling a bunch of FAQs, and answering each one to the best of our abilities. We will allow replies to the original post, if you have a question that you think is going to be something that will become a legit FREQUENTLY asked question -- in other words, don't ask something that is specific to you or your characters here, but something that we overlooked in explaining about the site! Any questions about your characters or plots or whatever should go in the main help board; otherwise, post it here, and we'll answer it for you!
Is there a limit of how many characters one person can play at one time?Of course not! Well, keep it reasonable; don't register with thirty characters if you're only going to touch four. That's silly. We're not going to be total sticklers for activity, but don't take advantage of that point. Make sure you play with what you have at least occasionally!
What's the avatar size limit?150x300 (that's 150 wide by 300 tall, in case you're not sure!) is the largest size you can have.
I wasn't invited to play; does that mean I can't play with you guys?We started off as an invitation-only game, and are still in favor of a close-knit group of players. But close-knit does not mean "exclusive." We started out with inviting our friends to work out bugs and start with ideas. But now, if you think you'll fit in, and you've got some great ideas, come join us!
I was thinking of playing a hero type, but you guys already have a "team" preset. Can I join that team or do I have to start my own? Can I even do that? The team that Amanderp and Caitllama have put together with Romy and Trinity is a little more closed-circuit, and we'd have to approve of anyone joining. We have specific ideas about what we want from and for them, but we won't automatically turn you down! But if you want a team of your own, certainly! If you can pull together the members, then by all means, please do. It just makes things more interesting that way. ♥
Can I make a team of super VILLAINS?Of course! We encourage it, in fact. Where would the DOOM Patrol be without that homoerotic Gorilla/Jar Brain team, amirite? But please don't do anything that creepy. 8|
Does that mean that I have to make a team of heroes/villains?Of course not! You're free to make a team if you want, or you can have an independent hero/villain, or any combination thereof. You could start off as an indie hero, and build up a team, or start off in a team and becomethe next Nightwingyour own man/woman, or anything that you want to play!
How many powers can each character have?No more than two. We don't have an app, but that doesn't mean that we want overpowered characters running around. So here's the rule of thumb: one big power, or two smaller ones. For example:
One power of super strength
Two powers of physical mutation and telekinesis
Two powers of moderate telepathy and telekinesis
Of course, those aren't the only possible combinations, but it's the kind of theme we'd like to stick to. A single powerful mutation, a strong power and weak physical mutation, or two moderate powers.
